The Takoma Educational Center is an academic institution that enrolls students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. Founded in 1976, the center provides a variety of educational and extracurricular programs for more than 380 students. The Takoma Educational Center offers the English Language Learners program. It provides special education services for students with disabilities. Located in Washington, D.C., the Takoma Educational Center is a part of the District of Columbia Public Schools, which governs several elementary, middle and high schools. The district s schools offer the Visiting Instruction Service Program for students with physical disabilities. Its schools also offer the Homeless Children and Youths Program, which focuses on free education for homeless children.
