Steel Recycling Institute, also known as SRI, is an industry association that promotes and sustains the recycling of steel products. It educates the solid waste industry, government agencies and businesses about the benefits of steel's recycling cycle. Founded in 1988, the nonprofit institute also specializes in the recycling of automobiles, steel cans and appliances. Steel Recycling Institute offers recycling services for construction materials. It serves clients throughout North America and has achieved the LEED certification. The institute additionally provides the Steel Cycles program, which offers educational solutions for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Steel Recycling Institute is a unit of American Iron and Steel Institute.
