General Info
Rock Creek Park was founded in 1890 and is operated by the National Park Service, a bureau within the Department of the Interior. The park has a variety of animals and plants, including coyotes, raccoons, owls, deer and various species of trees. It offers a wide variety of activities and facilities, including interpretative and educational programs, concerts, a Shakespearean theater, bicycling, more than 30 picnic areas, playgrounds and over 25 soft- and hard-surface tennis courts. Its activities and facilities also include hiking and bridle trails, an exercise course, roller blading, and an 18-hole public course with a clubhouse, lockers and a snack bar. It has a boat center that offers lessons and provides bicycles, kayaks, canoes, small sailboats and rowing equipment on rent. Rock Creek Park is located in Washington, D.C.
