Founded in 1976 and located in Washington, D.C., the International Center for on women, also known as ICRW, is a nonprofit organization that works to empower women, promote gender equality and fight poverty. It conducts researches in the areas of economic development, reproductive health and women s rights. ICRW also publishes technical reports for program practitioners and the public. It advocates for gender equality policies and programs for women and girls. The organization offers financial assistance, health care and nutrition services. It provides information for the prevention and treatment of AIDS. The organization undertakes the Nutrition and Gender Initiative, which is a project to find strategies to reduce malnutrition and improve the nutritional status of women and adolescent girls. The International Center for Research is supported by grants from national and international agencies, foundations and corporations.
