About HCFCU Hospitality Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) was established in 1965 to serve the specific needs of NE Washington, D.C. area residents and businesses. Armed with a membership that is now over 3, 700 strong, HCFCU is one of the metropolitan area's best known community financial institutions. HCFCU is a nonprofit financial cooperative. The money deposit in your credit union represents your ownership in shares. Every credit union member has equal ownership and one vote regardless of how much money is on deposit. Because you are an owner, you control the activities of the credit union through your ability to elect your Board of Directors. At a credit union, every person is both a member and an owner.
