Had a single document that required notary service and the business is so caring that the Notary extended their personal Saturday hours, on a MAJOR Holiday Weekend, in order to assist me- now THAT is service! Inquired about the previous post, and consulted DC.Gov as well. Apparently, the poster wanted the Notary to travel quite a distance for that $2 fee. Had they bothered to ask, no Notary is able to receive ANY sort of "honorarium" or fee above the US limit of $2 per page. That is the law and the Notary could easily have lost their commission if they had. If the poster had been closer, or even on their way home, there is no question in my mind that they would have been served. For a small business- that has no connections to me whatsoever- to travel over a reasonable distance is utterly ludicrous. Try asking a restaurant to deliver outside a "reasonable area" and they will laugh in your face, or charge a huge fee, and there is not even a law prohibiting them from doing so.

I called to inquire about notary services. I was initially attracted to the listing because it state "We will travel to you" and I have need of notary services at a hospital. I was more than willing to pay said notary for his/her time in addition to the nominal notary fee. The person I spoke with was neither polite nor helpful and said "I'm not traveling to _________________ hospital for only one document." I was not even given the opportunity to offer to pay an hourly fee or offer any other sort of honorarium. Needless to say I am most dissatisfied and feel the listing is at best inaccurate.
