Established in 2000, Capital City Public Charter School is a public school for students in prekindergarten through grade eight. Its academic curriculum includes English, math, science, social studies, art and computer education. The school has a low student to teacher ratio, with an assistant teacher in every classroom that allows for individualized attention for each student. It provides mathematics instruction based on problem solving, and hands-on and enquiry-based science instruction. It additionally places emphasis on literacy development to help children become lifelong readers and writers, and build confidence as skilled communicators. The school provides foreign language instruction, and English as a second language and bilingual support for language minority students as well. It offers various before and after school care and enrichment activities, and programs that encourage parent and community involvement.
