Association of Schools of Public Health is a national organization representing faculty and students of accredited member schools of public health and other programs that require accreditation as schools of public health. The association, based in Washington, D.C., is governed by its members and a board of directors. Established in 1953, the association manages a variety of functions, such as increasing academic public health programs, and working with several agencies of federal government on projects related to public health education and profession. It also assists its member schools in developing and coordinating national health policies, and provides related information to government and individuals. The association assists in disease prevention and health promotion. It also maintains a center with data on applicants, students, graduates and faculty of schools, conducts cost studies on education and expenditures, and prepares reports on trends in public health education.
