The Wareham Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that protects residents lives and their property and safeguards individual rights and community values. It has an honor guard that marches in parades, conducts funerals for officers and their family members and attends funerals for area officers killed in the line of duty. The Wareham Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department operates a communication center that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls, as well as provides communication services to various federal agencies.
