I needed two tires for my car and just asked them to replace all 4. The mechanic came to me and said he agreed the two front tires needed replacement but I could probably get another 10000 miles on the back tires. In the city I came from, they would have replaced all the tires and given dire warnings if I didn't replace the shocks, brakes, etc. I haven't gotten tires anyplace else in 17 years.
