- Primary CareOur office is participating with several managed care health plans. If you are not sure if we are participating to your plan please call the 1-800 # on your card. Some of these plans require a referral from your primary doctor and some do not. If your insurance plan requires a referral you must obtain this from your primary care doctor prior to your appointment, NO PATIENT WILL BE SEEN WITHOUT THEIR REFERRAL. Each visit will require a new referral unless your physician has written the original for more than one visit. If you are coming under any other insurance and wish to back up the visit with your medical insurance you will also need to get a referral for your visit (ie: motor vehicle accident patients who may be maxing out for their medical coverage). Our office does NOT bill for co-pays. Your co-pay is due at the time of your visit. We accept credit and debit cards, as well as personal checks and cash.
- Emergency CareWe have been practicing in South Jersey since 1983 and are well equipped to handle all neurosurgical and spinal problems. We have morning and afternoon appointments as well as immediate appointments for patients in need of emergency care. We participate in many Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO). We are on the panel for many workers compensation carriers and participate with them. We also work with patients and attorneys in personal injury cases (MVA, etc). Our well trained and friendly staff provides excellent and timely communications with you, your insurance companies and attorneys when the need arises.
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeYou probably do not remember me after so many years and thousands of patients however, 25 years ago I came to you for solutions to the extreme back pain I had suffered from since my college years. My pain had grown progressively worse. I was so extremely lucky that my new General Practitioner recommended that I see a Neurosurgeon instead of another orthopedic physician. I came to your office back in 1988 and in December 1988 you performed what was my first surgery on my cervical spine, you also did carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand at the same time.
- MRIMany headaches are of benign origin related to either allergies or muscular conditions. Some are stress related but some could be symptoms of other serious conditions such as brain tumor, brain aneurysms, arterial venous malformations, etc. To diagnose these problems many sophisticated tests have evolved over the years including MRI scan and MRA scan as well as computer tomographic angiography. A neurologic analysis will help to determine the cause and possible treatment including the diagnosis and management of stroke and its related complications.
- RadiologyIn order to see the doctor you must bring, your MRI films and/or CDand report of same. Please be aware that some radiology facilities require 48 hours to make a copy of these films. Any other test results such as EMG, BONE SCAN, etc., should also be brought in with you on the day of your appointment. These test results may also be faxed prior to your visit. Dr. Siddiqi requires that you bring the film’s back with each return visit. Also we require a photo ID that we can copy for your chart on the day of your appointment.
- SciaticaNearly a third of the patients with significant back pain will also develop sciatica or severe leg pain felt along the course of the sciatic nerve. During a course of time 90% will experience recurrences. Findings from an industrial survey demonstrate the severity of the problem.
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryMinimally invasive surgery for spine disorders has been used for decades. But, with new technology, it has become even less invasive. Today we use tools known as less invasive surgery (LSI) instruments that decrease the incision length, provide surgeons with a better field of vision and allow surgeons to insert bone grafts or perform a spinal fusion without having to make another incision. This helps preserve healthy muscle and tissue, reduce blood loss and cause less scarring.
- NeurosurgeryRecently, Minimally Invasive Surgery has revolutionized the surgical world. Not necessarily in neurosurgery, or spine surgery, but in almost every other form of surgery. Minimally invasive surgery means a smaller opening to accomplish the surgical approach and perform the surgery with new technologically advanced instruments that can reach deep and move at different angles. However, it must be understood that minimally invasive surgery could also be maximally destructive. These surgeries are performed under guidance from fluoroscopy and sometimes injury to the nerve root, dura and spinal fluid leak and bleeding may not be controlled through a small opening, and therefore a larger opening and conventional procedure is performed.
- LesionsThere are degenerative conditions of the brain such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s Chorea and other malfunctions of the brain cells that produce abnormal movements and at times these movements are non-volitional. They may range from tremors to spasms. These movement disorders can be difficult to control and may alter normal activities of daily living. Lately through a stereotaxic technology lesions can be generated into the deep nuclei of the brain where these movements can be controlled. Newer technologies are on the horizon, in which the lesion can be generated without opening the skull.
- Sports MedicineSports injuries are traumatic in nature. They affect the entire nervous system as well as the musculoskeletal system. These injuries range from injuries to the brain itself in the form of skull fractures, epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, intracerebral hematoma as well as concussion and contusions. These injuries must be diagnosed and treated very quickly to prevent loss of life or limb.
- Physical TherapySpondylolisthesis is mal-alignment of one vertebra over the top of another. This can occur from a trauma or from a degeneration. This does not necessarily need surgery and sometimes are associated with a fracture of a portion of the spine. Most often this condition is asymptomatic however in patients with symptoms of back pain different types of physical therapy is recommended followed by pain management injections like epidural injections, trigger point injections and facet blocks. To stabilize the mal-aligned segment sometimes an instrumented fusion is necessary.
