This heartbeat for those in need extends to medical mission work throughout the world that many of the SDG team members are proud to participate in annually.
- X-Rays
- Computed TomographyThe Surgical Dermatology team will check your skin and look at the size, shape, color, and texture of any suspicious areas. If your doctor thinks you might have skin cancer, a piece of skin will be removed and sent to a lab for examination under a microscope. This is called a skin biopsy. There are different types of skin biopsies. All or part of the growth will be removed. A sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy may be done in some people with melanoma to see if the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Once melanoma has been diagnosed, CT scans or other types of x-ray tests may be done to see if the cancer has spread.
- ChemotherapyChemotherapy: The use of drugs to destroy cancerous cells or tumors. The drugs shrink cancer cells or slow down their growth. Ideally, a chemotherapeutic drug is made to destroy the cancer cells without affecting other surrounding cells. However, some of the drugs have side effects on other body cells.

- Reconstructive SurgerySmoothRock is a place where transformation lives. As the living water runs over us, through us, and around us, hearts of stone are transformed and ragged edges are made smooth. The beauty of architecture placed within the majesty of God’s creation sets the stage for transformation. Strategic conferences and educational platforms transform the mind. The art and science of medicine heal the skin. Reconstructive surgery restores function, aesthetics and symmetry. A therapeutic facial improves skin tone. Light and laser treatments provide smoother contours. Collaborating mission agencies send out medical teams to help the hurting. Micro financing initiatives relieve the impoverished. Water wells nourish. Worship transforms the spirit.
- BotoxBotox has revolutionized the way we treat dynamic wrinkles and has now replaced many of the more traditional surgical approaches to facial aging. It is an extremely safe treatment, and in the right hands, produces beautiful, natural-appearing results. Botox is also used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis, or extensive sweating of the axilla, hands, and feet. We believe that Botox injection is as much an art form as it is a science.

- Skin CancerDysplastic nevi are moles that have an atypical appearance. They have a more unusual shape, color pattern and size than a typical mole. They are commonly indistinguishable from melanoma on physical exam and are found to be benign when biopsied. Although technically benign, these types of moles can change over time and can have a higher incidence of malignant transformation than normal moles. On the other hand, a majority of these moles do not transform into melanoma, but are frequently found on people diagnosed with melanoma.
