The Vernon Housing Authority provides independent living options to senior citizens and has been operational for more than 40 years. It owns and operates five apartment complexes and housing units. The authority administers the Section 8 program, which provides assistance to low-income families in the private rental market through the housing assistance payment programs. It operates a 44-unit facility, Congregate, which is a state-funded project and offers 24-hour emergency, housekeeping, meal and other support services. The housing authority also owns and operates other housing sites, including Windermere Court, Grove Court, Franklin Park East and Court Towers. In addition, it provides several online resources. The housing authority is located in Vernon, Conn.
