Skyline Builders rep "Nathan" ...

Skyline Builders rep "Nathan" arrived at my home and quoted the amount of $1650 to repair wood rot on my roof in 2 sections, replace window trim on two exterior windows and to level out, texture and paint my rear bedroom. His big sell of the deal was 100% satisfaction guaranteed or we don’t pay. He ended up adding on fees for work he had previously stated was included in the price. I pointed out that I wanted a specific heavy texture to be applied as the other three bedrooms in the house have the same look. He assured me that he could match it. Nathan stated the job would take two days and he would bring a crew of 3 people the next day. The next day only 1 person showed up to start work. I spoke to Nathan and he assured me that the work would be completed "on schedule". I spoke to the lead worker Luis and showed him the texture in the other bedrooms. He stated he would match it. The workers sprayed texture on the walls with professional grade machinery. Upon my inspection the texture did not match what I wanted. I was very concerned and called Nathan again and he assured me that it would match and not to worry. He also stated the job would not be finished until the following day. I expressed my displeasure and his attitude was “what is one more day”? That night I noticed one section of wall was not covered with texture, I called Nathan and he stated that they would finish it the next day.

The next day Luis used a CAN of spray texture to finish the job. I called Nathan and told him it did not match the rest of the spray he did yesterday and that it still did not look like the other bedrooms in my house. He assured me the final product would look the same once it was painted. Nathan arrived around 2 pm to review the work. I told him I had three main issues. Issue #1 the texture looked completely different than it was supposed to. Nathan stated texture spray was not an exact science and nobody could match it. He stated there was no way to make it look like the other room, which was also not true. I stated that it was he said he would delver but he said to redo the work would cost me a lot of money. When I stated his 100% satisfied or no payment policy, he stated that he would get paid “one way or another”. He was hinting of suing me and threatening me monetarily if I did not go along with his way. Nathan also stated he was 100% satisfied and that was “good enough for him”. Concern #2 was the spray can texture he used looked terrible; it did not match the rest of the wall. At first he claimed it matched but eventually agreed to sand it to make it look better. He said the spray can texture was just as good as the professional machine, which it was not. Concern #3 was the walls were not totally level. Nathan’s response was he could not fix them any better. However, we agreed before the contract was signed to fix them so you couldn’t tell there was any damage. Nathan stated it was close enough and there was no way to fix it now. He said the best he could do, would be $100 discount off his contract. He gave me a “satisfaction” survey to sign and it was clear to me that if I were to go against what he wanted that the work his crew would complete the job in an unsatisfactory fashion. I paid him and he left. The roof work was completed uneven and rushed and that was the last I saw of his crew.

In review, Skyline Builders, adds on fees that are not quoted for at time of contract, promises work that they cannot deliver, expresses 100% satisfaction claim they have no intent on honoring, does rushed work, cuts costs at every corner and threatens to “get their money one way or another”. I have never worked with a worse company in my life. I felt threatened and was at the mercy. A complaint has been filed with the BBB, do no trust them. They will cut corners and make empty promises. They are not to be trusted!
