I was influenced by the positive reviews online to try this place. I went there Friday, October 4, 2013, there was only one other customer in the restaurant when I arrived at 6:30 PM, dinner time, that should've given me a clue. Undeterred, I ordered a fish combo, red snapper and catfish, cost $24. I thought it was pretty pricey for a take-out, but okay if the food was good. I also ordered a six piece fried chicken meal. First, the fish: the pieces were tiny and fried to the point of total dehydration. The catfish had a rancid smell and tasted like it was spoiled, threw it out. The snapper was dry and tough as leather as though it had been aged like a prime cut of beef, threw it out. The six piece chicken order consisted of three wings with the drumette part of the wing separated from the remaining part. This constituted a six piece order, three wings, cut in half! To add insult to injury, it was so overcooked, it was hard, dry and totally inedible, threw it out. I didn't even try the side orders as they didn't look particularly appetizing. Assuming the best when I got my order, I left a $5 tip. I now know why the cashier looked so surprised when I handed it to her! This food cost me $35, $35 more than it should have.
I will NEVER go back to this place. It was the worst takeout food I have ever experienced, hands down.
If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. You have to put forth some effort to make food this bad, it was awful.
service was great, the cook i seen cooking on a giant pit in the front had what looked like 30 to 40 slabs of ribs i think he said his name was "smoke" kinda funny and he was smokeing da heck out that meat! food was great, sauce was a lil sweet, meat was tender, the serving was plentiful! if you want to eat good bbq & get full go to cj's look for "smoke"....
