General Info
Cardiologist Shawn Ragbir, MD practices at Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio's Uvalde location. When his mother became infected with viral meningitis, Dr. Ragbir was only eight years old. The specialists who cared for his mother - and his entire family - left a powerful impression. Years later, when his mother was gravely ill and hospitalized for weeks, Dr. Ragbir was a resident at the same hospital. He was grateful for the efforts of the healthcare team, and to this day, those experiences have informed his approach to his own patients. "As physicians, we get special treatment when family and loved ones need medical care. I want to offer that kind of special attention to all of my patients," says Dr. Ragbir. "I'll move mountains to get them the care they need, when they need it." That is how Dr. Ragbir explains his decision to join San Antonio's largest cardiovascular group and serve Uvalde and the surrounding communities. "I want to bring the 'big city' experience here. Along with the resources and reputation of Cardiology Clinic and Methodist Healthcare, I bring my knowledge, compassion and commitment to offer the same level of outstanding care these patients would experience in San Antonio," says Dr. Ragbir. Dr. Ragbir received a Bachelor of Science degree with departmental honors in biomedical engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in hypertension and clinical pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ragbir completed his fellowship in Cardiology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans prior to joining Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio's Uvalde location.
