- Laparoscopic SurgeryThis stomach bypass procedure can be performed through one large "open" incision or through very small ones (this is called laparoscopic surgery). The laparoscopic operation is a less invasive procedure performed with the aid of a laparoscope. This scope allows the surgeon to see the abdominal organs on a TV monitor. The surgical instruments are inserted through very small incisions in the abdominal wall. Almost all patients are candidates for the laparoscopic technique — your surgeon will discuss the best option for your individual needs.
- Bariatric SurgeryInsurance coverage is an important consideration for bariatric surgery patients. We work with most commercial insurance, medicare, and managed care plans, however insurance plans vary in the benefits they provide. Prior to your initial visit, please contact your insurance company to find out if surgery for morbid obesity is a covered benefit under your individual insurance plan, and ask if there are any exclusions under your policy as well.
