The Champaign County Sheriff s Office is administered by Champaign County Government in Illinois. The office operates a law enforcement division that maintains a work force of more than 50 employees. The Champaign County Sheriff s Office handles cases related to burglaries, robberies, criminal sexual assaults and homicides. The office s corrections division houses up to 660 prisoners each month, as well as provides security services for in-custody inmates during trials. The office responds to over 40,000 calls for service each year. In addition, its law enforcement division is responsible for serving subpoenas, summons and court orders. The Champaign County Sheriff s Office operates a court security division that assists with the transportation of prisoners.
