As chief of gastroenterology at Trinitas Hospital from 1980 to 1995, Dr. Muthusamy helped train numerous interns and residents. Trinitas Hospital is affiliated with Seton Hall Universitys Graduate School of Medicine. Dr. Muthusamy was selected for inclusion in Whos Who in Health and Medical Services.As a pioneer in gastroenterological surgical centers, Dr. Muthusamy developed and opened the EndoSurgiCenter in 1995 in Union, New Jersey for endoscopic and other gastrointestinal procedures. Fully licensed by the State of New Jersey as an ambulatory care facility, the center provides a fully equipped operating room, three recovery beds and a step-down unit for patients requiring additional monitoring. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a professional support staff. The EndoSurgiCenter has been certified by ASGE and TJC. Center for Digestive Diseases is Medicare- and AMA-certified.An active practitioner, Dr. Muthusamy emphasizes patient education and awareness, particularly for those patients expected to undergo procedures. He has performed over 20,000 EGDs, colonoscopies, polypectomies, sclerotherapy and PEG procedures. He also developed a GI clinic for underprivileged people at Trinitas Hospital and cared for patients there from 1980 to 1995. Dr. Muthusamy performs all gastrointestinal procedures as well as liver biopsies and abdominal paracentesis. He continues to teach at Seton Hall University.
