- Family PracticeHistorically, an employment test has been a physical examination administered by a medical doctor to look at general fitness prior to employment or to determine return to‑work fitness subsequent to injury. A recent article in the Back Letter stated "American physicians are failing to perform adequate pre‑employment physical examinations, according to a study in the Journal of the American Board of Family Practice (March/April, 1991). One reason for this was that in 68% of the cases studied, employers provided physicians with no information about the physical requirements of the jobs for which a prospective employee was being tested, thus rendering evaluations virtually meaningless.
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeInjury, fraud, indemnity cost, rehabilitation, lost time - all are factors contributing to the rising cost of work injury. OSHA estimates that by the year 2000 more than 50 percent of the American workforce will suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome and back-related injuries. 1 Injuries caused by overexertion will rise dramatically as well. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) estimates that by the same year, U.S. employers will spend more than $200 billion for costs related to workers’ compensation injuries and lost time days. 2

- Physical TherapyWelcome to Kabrick & Associates. We’re glad you’ve chosen us as your provider for physical therapy. Your return to the highest level of function possible is our treatment goal. Because Physical Therapy is a cumulative treatment, it is important for you to keep your scheduled appointments.
- Manual TherapyYour duration of treatment with the physical therapist is dictated by the Physician prescription. On your first visit the therapist will spend some time taking a history and gathering information about your condition and then design the plan of treatment most appropriate. There are many “modalities” and procedures used by the therapist. The more traditional are heat (ultrasound, diathermy, hot packs), ice, electrical stimulation of various types of current, and exercise. As pain is controlled more specific exercise, including joint mobilization, joint and muscle specific exercises are included in the treatment. A home exercise program generally is designed and progressed throughout treatment as indicated.
