Yuet-Ming Chan, M.D., is a primary care provider who believes in focusing on the big picture when it comes to a patient’s health. “For example, rather than just focusing on blood pressure management, I try to emphasize the importance of how managing that can improve overall quality of life,” Dr. Chan said. With Tucson’s aging population, Dr. Chan is passionate about working with older adults to provide medical recommendations that optimize their health while aligning with their priorities in life. Drawing from past experience, Dr. Chan takes an honest, judgment-free approach with her patients, and encourages open dialogue regarding health and lifestyle choices, as well as the struggles that come with them. “At some point, I was overweight and I understand first-hand how difficult it can be to juggle nutrition and exercise, along with maintaining a life and family,” she said. “It’s insanely hard and I will never judge a patient for trying, regardless of the result. Dr. Chan grew up in San Francisco and completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Davis. After working for a few years, she earned her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed her training in internal medicine at the University of Arizona.
