General Info
Dr. Li-Mei Lin is a Johns Hopkins fellowship-trained, board certified neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular neurosurgery and minimally invasive neuroendovascular/neurointerventional surgery. Dr. Lin is skilled in both open skull surgery and minimally invasive endovascular treatments. This allows her to take a comprehensive approach to treating her patients with cerebrovascular conditions. She is able to weigh the risks and benefits of all available options to recommend the best treatment modality tailored for each patient. Dr. Lin is a passionate brain aneurysm specialist, dedicated to delivering the best care possible for her patients. She specializes in treating brain aneurysms with one of the newest minimally invasive endovascular techniques called flow diversion that uses braided stents designed to heal the affected artery. She is one of the most experienced surgeons in this technology and has traveled the country as a proctor for both the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED) and the Surpass Flow Diverter, teaching other physicians how to use this new technique. More recently, Dr. Lin was the principal investigator at UC Irvine for the SCENT Trial, which was a FDA-sponsored multicenter clinical trial for one of the newest flow diverters, Surpass Streamline. Her contributions to the trial were instrumental to the FDA approval of Surpass in 2018 and she was a pioneer for this technology on the West Coast. Dr. Lin aims to improve and develop novel endovascular devices and techniques that help patients with cerebrovascular disorders. She is the lead author of numerous publications and the Neurosurgery Associate Editor for the Stroke & Vascular Neurology journal. Dr. Lin grew up in Southern California. She is a wellness enthusiast, and trained in integrative healing approaches. In her leisure time, Dr. Lin enjoys traveling as well as a variety of outdoor activities, including running, cycling and hiking.
