Established in 1928, Sam Hughes Elementary School serves more than 300 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s educational program includes instruction in various subjects, such as English, math, science, social studies, language arts and health education. It also provides Waterford Technology, GATE Plus and Opening Minds Through the Arts (OMA) programs. Sam Hughes Elementary School offers special education programs and related services to students with special needs. In addition, its parent-teacher association conducts various fundraising events for the support of the school. Its facilities include a library, cafeteria, computer laboratory, playground and classrooms. Located in Tucson, Ariz., Sam Hughes Elementary School operates under the Tucson Unified School District, which is a professional learning community that enrolls students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
