• Jaw Surgery
  Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons perform orthognathic (jaw) surgery to correct a wide range of facial and dental problems, including misaligned jaws and occlusion (bite) problems that can result in difficulties with breathing, speaking and chewing. Also, since orthognathic surgery is designed to bring the jaws and facial profile into balance, it can also have an appreciable effect on the patient’s appearance.
• Pre-prosthetic Surgery
  Whether it is dentures, partials, bridges or dental implants, many people at some point in their lives will need some kind of dental prosthetic. When that happens, the mouth needs to be prepared for the prosthetic in some way, depending on the kind of prosthetic, its placement location and other factors. When getting dentures, for example, some patients may experience difficulties with keeping dentures in place and functioning properly, due to the size or shape of the jaws, gum problems, or the muscular structure of the mouth. This is when pre-prosthetic surgery can be especially helpful – by alleviating or eliminating these problems, patients can wear their dental prostheses with greater ease and success, increasing oral health and quality of life.
• Maxillofacial Surgery
  At Casas Adobes Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, our team of highly-skilled surgeons and staff are experts in treating a variety of conditions related to the mouth, teeth, jaw and facial areas.
• Tooth Extractions
  After tooth extraction, it’s important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. Bite on a moistened gauze pad for 30-45 minutes immediately after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, place another moistened gauze pad over the site and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times to staunch the flow of blood.
• Bone Grafting
  Bone grafting can repair implant sites with inadequate bone structure due to previous extractions, gum disease, or injuries. The bone is either obtained from a tissue bank or your own bone is taken from the jaw, hip or tibia (below the knee). Sinus augmentations are also performed in conjunction with bone grafts to replace bone in the posterior upper jaw. In addition, special membranes may be utilized that dissolve under the gum to protect the bone graft, as well as encourage bone regeneration. This is called guided bone regeneration, or guided tissue regeneration.
