A deranged tenant tenant set her apt. on fire which instead burned up through her ceiling setting ours fire. My husband and I and our two small children escaped without injury but lost everything we owned, having just arrived from out of state with only our most valued belongings and only just finally gotten everything set up comfortably. Ir qucikly rebuilt and we we're moved back in, but we had nothing. Then like angels from heaven suddenly I was talking on the phone to a Salvation Army representative who was telling me they could provide us with furniture, even asking questions as to whether we rather this or that. I don't even remember how it was they knew of our need (weather someone called to tell them about us or whether they just read about the fire in the newspaper.) . We were given a voucher to buy clothing as I remember. I was overwhelmingly grateful. and still am. This was 35 yrs ago and I have donated as much as possible ever since, THANK YOU SALVATION ARMY :).
