Advanced Carbon Technologies, founded in 1992, is a company providing purification of graphite and non-graphite materials, such as carbon composites, fibers, ceramics, metal oxides, alloys and tungsten. ACT fulfills purification needs and production schedules of independent machine shops. The company performs purification of various metals using high-temperature induction furnaces that are operated under vacuum and atmospheric pressure using inert and halogen gas mixtures. It also has small furnaces available for exploratory work to determine optimum process conditions, such as temperature, pressure, gases and cycle times prior to full-scale production. ACT manufactures pyrolytic graphite that is used as raw materials in plates, freestanding shapes and as an impermeable coating on various substrates. Advanced Carbon is based in Topton, Pa.
