Fidelity Kansas Bankshares is the parent company of Fidelity State Bank & Trust. Fidelity State Bank & Trust Company was established in 1883 in Elk City, a small town in southeast Kansas. The bank is part of a network with branches in Topeka, First Bank of Newton, First National Bank in Pratt, and Intrust Bank, Wichita, the largest Kansas owned bank. Topeka is the capital of the state of Kansas and has a population of about 120,000. Topeka is also the county seat of Shawnee County, which has a population of about 170,000, and the county primarily served by Fidelity State Bank & Trust. The largest employers in Topeka are Western Resources, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Payless Shoe Source, which has their headquarters here, Hill Pet Products, Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, and Security Benefit Group of Companies. Southwestern Bell has state headquarters in Topeka.
