The Ocean County Sheriff s Department, located in Toms River, N.J., is a full-service law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It maintains a K-9 team that handles issues related to drug intervention, tracking, and searches for persons, buildings and evidence. The Ocean County Sheriff s Department also has a criminal investigation unit that offers services for laboratory analysis, firearm mark identification, blood alcohol and urine analysis, sexual assault evidence exams, forensic photography, and arson and drug analysis. The department coordinates with the Office of Emergency Management, which handles issues related to emergency preparedness and homeland security that include weather spotting, hazard mitigation, and ground searches and rescue.
