Brazos Electric Cooperative is one of the largest cooperatives that deals in the generation and transmission of more than 3,000 megawatts of electricity in Texas. Founded in 1941, it is a wholesale power supplier for over 15 member-owned distribution cooperatives and several municipal systems. The cooperative operates a range of distribution systems. Brazos Electric Cooperative offers transmission planning, engineering, maintenance and project handling services. The cooperative s Johnson County generation facility has a capacity to produce over 3,500,000 megawatts of electricity. Its service division is comprised of fiscal, administrative and information technology services. In addition, Brazos Electric Cooperative operates human resources and purchasing departments. It also operates various wholly owned subsidiaries, such as Brazos Fuel Company and Brazos Sandy Creek Electric Cooperative.
