- Family PracticeSince his arrival in Ventura, Dr. Nickel was an instructor in the UCLA affiliated Family Practice Residency at the Ventura County Medical Center for 20 years. He has served on multiple local hospital committees, including the chairmanship of the orthopedic and procurement committees at Community Memorial Hospital and Chief of Medical Staff at Ventura County Medical Center. He also has been president of the county chapter of the Christian Medical Dental Association. Dr. Nickel has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectured nationally on such topics as arthroscopic surgery of the ankle and running and skiing injuries. He has reluctantly had to call a halt to his own running activities but has been able to assist with the medical care of the runners of the first and several subsequent Los Angeles Marathons and is the sports medicine physician for the football and other athletic teams at Ventura College.

- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeDr. Gluck specializes in hand surgery, wrist surgery, elbow surgery, shoulder surgery and pediatric upper extremity surgery. His procedures include carpal tunnel, trigger finger and De Quervain’s release, fracture fixation and arthroscopic minimally invasive surgeries of the wrist, elbow, and shoulder, arthritis restoration and reconstructive procedures including total shoulder and elbow replacements.

- UltrasoundWhen procedures are indicated, Dr. Vu is skilled in fluoroscopic-guided injections of the spine (i.e. epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, facet injections, and radiofrequency ablation) as well as ultrasound-guided injections for joint, tendon and muscle issues using steroid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid. Other procedures include intraarticular facet injections, genicular nerve ablation, ultrasound-guided joint, tendon and bursa injections, joint viscosupplementation injections, electromyography and nerve conduction studies, intramuscular trigger point injections and, hopefully in the near future, extracorporeal shockwave therapy.

- General SurgeryDr. Michael Fealy, MD is a board certified hand surgeon, specializing in complex hand and wrist conditions and procedures. He received his Medical Degree from the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Fealy trained in the general surgery and plastic surgery residency programs at Stanford University Medical Center. He then completed a Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Fealy is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association for Hand Surgery, Southern California Society for Surgery of the Hand and California Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has held clinical appointments as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.

- Ankle SurgeryDr. Rearick attended medical school in Florida at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine where he graduated at the top of his class and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He then went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County Medical Center. Dr. Rearick concluded his training with an additional fellowship year specializing in foot and ankle surgery with nationally recognized mentors at the renowned Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.
- Joint ReplacementJill, born and raised in Indiana, earned her degree in nursing from Purdue University. Prior to joining Ventura Orthopedics in 2015, she was the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Orthopedic Unit at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. Under Jill’s direction, the unit was awarded Best In Quality for multiple quarters. She also was the project lead in creating the Total Joint Replacement and Spine Program. As a testament to her hard work, Jill was awarded the Hospital Corporation of America Innovators Award in 2010 for quality and patient safety and Los Robles’ first ever Peer Recognition Award For Excellence in 2014.
- Arthritis SurgeryFrom there, Dr. Turk went to Philadelphia, Pa. where he completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania. There, he was fortunate enough to work with multiple adult hip and knee reconstruction innovators and gained experience in a busy trauma center. Dr. Turk’s efforts brought him distinguished recognition when he received the residency program’s Leonard Marmor Excellence in Arthritis Surgery award. Having found joint replacement surgery of particular interest, Dr. Turk pursued an additional year of adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery in the fellowship program at the esteemed Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in Alexandria, Va. His mentors were recognized globally as leaders in joint replacement innovation.
- Hand SurgeryDr. Ishak eagerly returned to Southern California to begin his orthopedic residency at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. At the completion of his residency, he took an additional year of hand surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco where be studied under the renowned Professor Edward Diao.
- Orthopedic SurgeryDue to his ever-present love of sports and subsequent interest in the musculoskeletal system from medical school, orthopedic surgery was a natural fit for Dr. Suzuki. He remained at UCSD for his orthopedic surgery residency, where he received excellent clinical training and had the opportunity to participate in several different aspects of orthopedic research. One of his research abstracts was selected as a finalist for the New Investigator Recognition Award at the 2009 Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting.

- Knee ReplacementWhile in residency at UC Irvine, Dr. Hofer developed an interest in innovative techniques for managing hip and knee arthritis, which led him to complete a fellowship specializing in lower extremity reconstruction at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif. His training included hip and knee replacement surgery, including complex revision and reconstruction cases along with partial knee replacements, computer navigation hip and knee replacements and joint preservation surgery.
- Reconstructive SurgeryA particular interest in arthroscopic joint surgery has resulted in extensive experience in this area. Dr. O’Hollaren has also had an active interest in reconstructive surgery, including hip and knee replacements, and believes that principles of rehabilitation similar to those used in athletic surgery can be used to maximize function after joint replacement. Currently, Dr. O’Hollaren practices part-time and limits his practice to the evaluation and non-operative treatment of orthopedic conditions.

- Tennis ElbowLateral epicondylitis, commonly referred to as “tennis elbow,” is one of the most common and infamous elbow injuries. Essentially this is a muscle strain caused by overuse, which can cause a series of small and painful tears in the tendon. Although named for the athletes who commonly suffer this injury, this condition impact many people who make repetitive motions with their elbows, including plumbers, painters, and similar. Tennis elbow is also similar, but distinct, from medial epicondylitis, or “golfer’s elbow,” which can also be extremely painful.

His clinical interests include trauma, foot and ankle injuries in the athlete, foot and ankle arthritis, osteochondral lesions of the talus, flatfoot deformity, bunion deformity and Achilles and peroneal tendon disorders. Dr. Rearick offers both conservative and contemporary surgical options, including minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures, as well as total ankle replacement surgery. He is committed to maximizing non-operative management and only proceeding with surgery when absolutely necessary, with personalized care for each patient in mind.
