- Sinusitis
- Primary CarePatients are also asked to get ready for surgery by obtaining clearance from their primary care doctor and obtaining the topical antibiotic that Dr. Ebroon prescribes for use on the eyelids after surgery.
- OphthalmologyBeen board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and who have also passed rigorous tests in this specialized field.
- Laser Eye SurgeryThe surgery center. Dr. Ebroon only performs surgery in Medicare approved surgery centers like the Lynn Eye Surgery Center or the Westlake Eye Surgery Center. The advantage of the surgery center is that an IV is started and sedative medications are given (generally Versed, Fentanyl, and Propofol.) These medications put the patient into a twilight state that allows maximal comfort without having to be put to sleep. An MD anesthesiologist is present at all times to monitor a patient’s health and to ensure optimal care during IV sedation. The patients that choose surgery in the surgery center are generally those that would like to be as unaware as possible during the surgery, without having to be put to sleep.
- Internal MedicineDr. Ebroon graduated at the top of his class at MIT with a degree in molecular biology and with honors from Northwestern University Medical School. He then did an internship in Internal Medicine followed by a three year Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern. Next, he completed a prestigious ophthalmic plastic surgery fellowship in New York. Finally, he passed a set of four rigorous exams and did a year long thesis which led to his acceptance in the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Ebroon is one of about 400 such trained eyelid plastic surgeons in the world.
- Thyroid
- Reconstructive SurgeryDr. Ebroon also performs reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, eye socket, and tear ducts for those patients suffering from diseases related to these areas. This includes patients with droopy eyelids, eyelid cancer, broken bones around the eyes, tearing disorders, thyroid eye disease (Grave's disease), and other eyelid disorders.
- BotoxThe outstanding cosmetic enhancements that Botox offers continues to be enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Botox was developed for medical purposes in the 1970s and 1980s. Originally it was developed to help the condition called Strabismus. Strabismus is when the eyes do not both look in the same direction, causing one eye to appear as though it is turned in or turned out. Dr. Alan Scott developed Botox to temporarily weaken one of the eye muscles so that both eyes could look in the same direction. Botox was approved for this purpose in the 1980s.
- Brow LiftComplication from surgery is excessive bleeding after the surgery. The nerve that is responsible for eyesight could be potentially squeezed by excess blood and cause permanent loss of vision. By stopping any blood thinning medications two weeks prior to surgery the chances of such a problem are greatly diminished. Other potential risks of surgery include double vision, dry eyes, infection, a retracted or pulled down eyelid, asymmetry, undercorrection, overcorrection, and the need for more surgery. A brow lift has its own unique set of complications. These include tenderness along the hairline and weakness of the facial nerve. Fortunately, with good surgical technique such problems are rare.
- Eyelid SurgeryFor cosmetic eyelid surgery the simple answer is about two weeks. The reality is that there are so many factors that go into the healing process that in an individual’s case the healing time can vary. What affects healing time? Some factors that affect healing are which procedures are performed, how easily the patient bruises, how well the eyelids are taken care of during the postoperative period, and how good of a healer the patient is.
- Plastic SurgeryAn ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeon is an ophthalmologist (medical doctor and eye surgeon) who has completed additional training in plastic surgery as it relates to the eyes and their surrounding structures.
- Face LiftIn some patients, excess skin of the upper eyelids is accompanied by droopy eyebrows. Although upper eyelid blepharoplasty makes a significant difference for most patients, a brow lift may be helpful in achieving ideal results. Dr. Ebroon performs this procedure through five tiny incisions that are hidden behind the hairline. A small camera or endoscope is then used while the brow and forehead are lifted to their natural youthful position. If done together with a blepharoplasty the results can be impressive because the entire upper face has been rejuvinated. In effect, the patient has benefited from an upper face lift. An endoscopic brow lift adds about one and a half hours of surgery time for the typical patient.
- BlepharoplastyUpper eyelid blepharoplasty causes bruising and swelling that starts soon after the surgery. The bruising and swelling will worsen the day after the surgery. Most patients will start improving on the third day after surgery and many patients feel comfortable driving on this day. Simple tasks around the house can be done as long as there is no heavy lifting.
- Lip Augmentation
- Cosmetic SurgeryThe fees quoted depend on which surgery is planned, where the surgery will be performed, and if there are any features that make the procedure more complicated and time consuming. For example, a patient who has never had eyelid surgery before and is interested in cosmetic surgery of their upper eyelids will be quoted a
- Forehead LiftDr. Ebroon recommends performing the forehead lift procedure in conjunction with blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), especially if a patient has significant skin overhang in the upper eyelids. Sometimes, patients who believe they need upper-eyelid surgery find that a forehead lift better meets their surgical goals.
- Cyst
