Provided by YP.comWhat can I say about Independent Lake Camp? Well, I can honestly say I spent most of my life there (10+) years, and if I had a time machine to go back and change it, I wouldn't. The camp offers such a wide variety of things to do that caters to every child, teen, and potential counselor. It makes sure everyone feels accepted with said activities and that no one is left out because there's nothing they want to do. I personally found myself shift where I belonged a couple times at camp, because it was definitely a place of self-expression. Even though I feel my chapter of Independent Lake Camp's history is over, and I'm saddened by the fact that I'm no longer a child running to the canteen for candy, making sure I get that one trolley spot, or making sure I get a chocolate chip cookie. Independent Lake Camp will still be a big portion of my heart and I've spent so much of my life (And my parent's money) going here. But, there is even more to be said. This camp CELEBRATES human diversity. Not only does this camp have foreigners from all over the globe, but it makes sure that you feel accepted for exactly who you are. Trust me, I've done some pretty outlandish things while I was at camp, nothing bad, but that's who I was and who I still and people understood that. There's no bullying at camp. None at all. If there was someone who was being mean, they were quickly dealt with. This camp is about expression, human development, and love. From basketball to dungeons and dragons you can never be bored with Independent Lake Camp. The environment will make you want to come back/send your child back. Over and Over again. There's only a couple rules if you wanna go here: Be Open-Minded, Be ready for fun, Don't be mean, and Be happy. Because, what makes this camp great is if you're happy, because I've had some sessions where I've been downright upset and it wasn't fun for anyone, but that's besides the point. Please, I implore anyone who is reading this with children between the ages of 6-17 to send there child here, and after one summer they'll want to go back. And even though I can never be a camper there again, it holds a special place in my heart. Here's to you ILC. I'll be sending good vibes your way. ILC4LYF
