General Info
Welcome to Thomasville, Southwest Alabama's Success Story! We are a certified Alabama Community of Excellence focused upon city-wide investments and creating an unexpected quality of life. In Thomasville, leaders from government, business, education and medicine actively collaborate with volunteers to make the city a model for rural development. Annually, we host the Southeast's only "rural" National Supplier Conference. It brings over a dozen prime contractors and suppliers, including Boeing and NASA to the city. From these conferences, which began in 2005, two Boeing Mentor-Prot g e agreements have emerged. Several hundred officials and participants come here each fall to network and do business with some of the Nation's finest companies. Thomasville is home to excellent and expanding medical services, including the new Thomasville Medical Park. It will contain the, soon-to-be under construction, Southwest Alabama Medical Center. Surrounding the new hospital will be over a dozen medical related facilities. Out patient procedures are expected to triple. Education is not eclipsed by the quality of other community services. Both Thomasville City School System and Alabama Southern Community College are awarding winning institutions offering an exceptional education within a friendly hometown atmosphere. Workforce development in Thomasville begins at an early age. We are preparing tomorrow's workforce today. In 2008, the city will become a destination for recreation and entertainment. The new Civic Center, with its gallery and five hundred seat auditorium, will accommodate traveling exhibits, performance ensembles and conventions. The City is competitive and sports-minded. Our arenas are second to none and we have hosted multiple national events. As Mayor, I encourage you not to be mislead by the population of my hometown. The Thomasville Trade Area is 98, 500 and growing every day. With the new Thomasville South Industrial Park, thriving Highway 43 Commercial Corridor and revitalized Historic Downtown, opportunities abound in this quaint yet energetic city. In Thomasville, we know that being a "success story" is about fostering innovation and sustaining momentum.
