Tempe Development Service Department has a staff of more than 60 employees and is located in Tempe, Ariz. It provides planning, plan review, permitting, inspections and commercial code enforcement services. The department s planning division assists in development entitlement process, including the change and adoption of codes and ordinances, redevelopment, construction, and current planning and property conservation. Its building safety division processes the review of building plans and specifications, issuance of building, and fire and engineering permits. The department is operated by the city of Tempe that also operates other departments, such as community relations, financial services, fire, human resources, and parks and recreation.
