I have high admiration for the work conducted by Arizona Tenants Advocates (ATA). The case that my wife and I presented to them involved the apartment complex calling themselves, “Saratoga Ridge Apartments” at 16th Street and Bell Rd. We had less than a favorable experience dealing with the apartment management. The management team had little respect for us as tenants and did not address matters in a timely manner. We had many issues with the complex and needed out of there. “Saratoga Ridge” would not allow us out of our lease without paying the hefty lease break fee. We were not going to pay a place to break our lease when they had failed to prepare out place for move-in and did not properly handle maintenance and pest issues as they arose.
ATA handled our case in a timely manner and helped us step by step. We received intimidating letters from our apartment complex legal firm, but ATA would reassure us and assisted in the counter letters. I would suggestion following the advice exactly as it is provided and do not deviate from the process. The situation came to fruition in our favor avoiding legal fees and a long drawn out legal process. We appreciated how ATA sat down with us and explained how the process would work and were available for questions as they came up. I would highly recommend the services of ATA for anyone with lease issues or landlord issues.

ATA was extremely helpful in assisting me with my rental and landlord issues. They are professional, experienced, thorough, and very patient. ATA worked with me to solve all of my issues. I highly recommend them if you are having problems with your rental and/or landlord. Also, ATA offers a credit protection program that is very beneficial now and in the future.
Our landlord refused to replace the AC in our apartment, to where the apartment could reach temperatures of over 100 degrees. Ken Volk and his team worked quickly and efficiently in order to get us out of the inhabitable apartment. He went above and beyond by expediting the process to get us out quickly. The process is extremely thorough and Ken gives you forms with step by step instructions, making the process less stressful overall. We are extremely grateful we found ATA, and would definitely recommend him if you're having renters issues.
I really want to thank Ken Volk and his team. They have really gone above and beyond to help me out. Ken is very knowledgeable about what he does. He was able to help me break my lease with my apartment and help me to get out of extra money that the apartment was going to charge me. He also was able to help me create documents to send to them to clarify everything for all parties involved. The staff is also very knowledgeable and they were able to answer any questions I had. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone that needs help with their lease.

Once you meet the owner of ATA named Ken Volk you WILL be blown away. Ken Volk is this dirty little old man wearing dirty clothes in a dirty house with a dirty mind.... and he is OBVIOUSLY a scam artist. KEN yold me he could break my lease and gave me 3-4 ideas how to do it (if I paid him about $1000 first).
So left ... uh, got out of there as fast as I could ....and checkef with a real lawyer. The lawyer told me that ATA has a BAD reputation with landlords. Phoenix area landlords have their own listserv and they have a topic devotef to Ken Volk and Arizona Tenats Advocates and they know when ATA is secretly writing tenant letters. Here are the lawyers exact words : "Landlords know that ATA letters can easily be ignored."
I paid that lawyer $500 and he sent one letter as and broke the lease.
Arizona Tenants Advocates helped me with my case in breaking my lease and they were nothing but helpful!! The staff at ATA provided me with the necessary information and letters I needed, they all know information necessary to break your lease and your legal rights. I highly recommend this tenants union for anyone trying to get out of their lease the correct way.

ATA and Ken Volk have been nothing if not helpful. My wife and I were at a loss for what to do next. An impending move was going to force us to break our lease early and our property managment company was less than understanding. They were going to charge us the 6 months of rent as a penalty. Ken walked us through the process and has, to this day, been true to his word. I recommend this service and do not know what we would have done without it.
Our property management company made many promises about the move in condition of our rental. We finally decided to see if anything could be done, since none of the promises were kept. I looked around on the internet for information on how to get out of a lease. I found the ATA and read much of the information on the site - very informative. I called the ATA office and was asked a few questions. They assured me that they could get me out of the lease. I went to their office and started filling out the paperwork. This was a little time consuming, but they are very thorough. I followed all the directions that they gave me. I’m happy to say that I’m out of my lease now! I was also very surprised about how accurate they were. The property management company responded exactly the way I was told that they would every time! ATA really knows there stuff!
My wife and I went to ATA when she needed help terminating a lease. At first we were skeptical as to how feasible this would be. However, we were educated on how many liberties landlords take when drawing up leases and fulfilling their end of the contract (or failure to do so). Considering the obvious workload ATA had (there were always other clients
in the lobby when we were there), I was impressed as to how well they stayed on top of events. Also impressive were the various referrals ATA has when issues arise outside
of their field of expertise. It was drilled into our heads how important it was to follow the procedures and rules without exception, but doing so, we would have success. Don't expect the process to be easy. Management companies will come after you with lawyers, collectors, try to report you to the bureaus, etc. But with persistance, adherence to the rules, and patience, ATA will get you through it.
I lived in a high rise condo, owned by a big corporation. I didn't think it was possible to get out of my lease, then I found ATA. Ken and David have an incredible knowledge base for their industry, I could not have moved out without them. I am grateful.
I had a landlord that was coming into my house at least every other day without consent or cause and after the first week and she telling me she would come in everyday if she wanted i contacted ATA and through their process by the end of the month she was ready to let me out of the lease. The cost was very reasonable and i'd rather give my money to them than to a crazy landlord. They put me in a strong position to defend myself legally and i have a year membership in ATA for future use so i am very happy and impressed with the process.
