Pressing oil is also used to get the hair straight. This normally leaves the hair looking greasy and limp looking. The silk press is the modern day press and curl that gives the hair a relaxed look. It's for natural hair only , relaxed hair is already straight so a silk press is not necessary. A silk press on relaxed hair is called a flat iron.
