- Emergency CareIn addition, because Taos Orthopaedic Institute doctors are active in education and research including teaching, our doctors often travel out of town to fulfill various medical education and research obligations. It is possible that after a patient receives care from a Taos Orthopaedic Institute doctor, the doctor may be out of town if or when the patient requires additional or emergency care. It is important to our office that you are aware that Taos Orthopaedic Institute doctors frequently travel, and also function as a team, so when a doctor is out of town, coverage from one of our other doctors will be available.

- Minimally Invasive SurgeryMy time as a fellow in Taos gave me the exposure, experience and education I needed to take my practice to the next level in arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery. The year we spent in Taos was the best year of our life to date both personally and professionally. Not a day goes by that I don’t think back to my time there fondly. My daily practice is shaped by my experience there with Drs. Lubowitz, Guttmann and Reid.

- ArthroscopyI had a phenomenal year as a sports fellow in Taos. From day one, you quickly realize that collegiality, autonomy, academics, and practice management are all priorities. I felt integrated into the practice as a colleague and welcomed as family. Being able to do trauma cases on my own immediately and progressing to running my own room for elective cases really went a long way in building my confidence, enhancing my surgical skills, and allowing me to think on my own. Working in a private practice setting, I learned so much about the business aspect of medicine. And there’s no shortage of critically evaluating evidence based medicine, as the attendings are very involved in the Journal of Arthroscopy and AANA. Thanks to Jim, Dan, and Jeb for a wonderful year and an unforgettable experience!
- Hip Replacement
- Knee ReplacementBorn and raised in Pennsylvania, I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Scranton with a degree in Biophysics. I received my medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. I went onto to complete my residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Akron General Medical Center/NEOUCOM. Finally, Taos called me to complete my subspecialty training in Arthroscopy/Sports Medicine with the Taos Orthopaedic Institute. I took my first job with the Albuquerque Health Partners where I focused on Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, joint reconstruction/preservation, Shoulder/Knee Arthroplasty, and Extremity Trauma. After 5 years of practice in NM, I moved my practice to Bishop, CA where I am now developing a new sports medicine/joint preservation program as well as continuing to perform shoulder and knee replacement along with treatment of extremity trauma.
- Knee ArthroscopyMy year in Taos was a great one. I feel I learned to be proficient in shoulder and knee arthroscopy. In addition, I was able to see how a successful private practice was run. Taos was also a very unique place to live for a year. It was great to experience the culture as well as the various outdoor activities. Taos will always be remembered fondly.
