My mother, son and I ate at Urban Culinary Cuisine this past Saturday (6/5/10) evening around 6PM and I had the most horrible experience. This place is really intimate and we were barely greeted even. Other?s who walked in after us were welcomed by a warm, loud, greeting. We got up to order (one of the Chef?s son?s took our order) and he had some difficulty placing our order, as if he hasn?t had that much experience behind the register. We ordered wings, smoked salmon salad and a grilled salmon dinner with mac & cheese and broccoli. They did not have a children?s menu so we had to split the $13.99 meal with my son. Service was HORRIBLE. No one checked on us, cleared our table or refilled our drinks. I had to go us and request more napkins for the wings they brought out. No offense, but we are black so I really have a lot of respect for black-owned business but I will NEVER go back and NEVER refer ANYONE to go here. I can?t imagine they will be in business long.

This really is the best kept secret in Tampa!! The food is absolutely awesome!! I learned that the Chef was trained at "Windows on the World", a 5-star restaurant which was in the World Trade Center. The food is 5-star rated!! Who would've thought that 5-star rated cuisine would be in a small cafe located in a small shopping center? I've had several dishes over time including the Salmon Poached in White Wine, the huge 12-oz Grilled Pork Chop, Fried Catfish, the Pear Salad with walnuts and bleu cheese and I've had their signature Half-Pound Burger!! Every single meal has been exceptional!! For those who don't know, they also offer the best soul food in Tampa!! Don't travel to Orlando - go to New Tampa and enjoy yourself!! And, I'm told they've catered weddings, parties, meetings and even catered for a US Senator!! When I have an event, I KNOW I want this Chef to cater my event because the service is great and the food is exceptional! I don't usually write reviews online but had to here.
