- Deep Tissue MassageYou should schedule your first massage today, of course. Subsequent massages should be scheduled depending on your training schedule. Deep tissue work should not be scheduled within 2 or 3 days of a quality workout. That means you should not have a deep massage the day before your long run or before your track workout. The day after either of these workouts would be ideal. (See “How will I feel...†below.)

The instructor videotapes the students during the event and later provides critical review during class. Students will learn & demonstrate proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and Active Isolated Stretching techniques. Students learn about cryotherapy and thermal therapy, the injury response cycle, the acute inflammatory response and other physiological aspects of athletic training. Wear professional clothing during the sporting events. Prerequisite: Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE or equivalent course or experience. 60% hands-on/40% lecture
- Stretching
- Myofascial TherapyThe Myofascial Therapy releases the fascial restrictions from which many athletes suffer. Intense training tends to generate scar tissue in the muscle and fascia, which overtime may result in limited range of motion in the muscles used for the athlete’s sport. The fascial release is enhanced by adding the active and/or passive movement component, using the pin and stretch technique or the pin and shorten technique. Stretching routines (see below) are added when necessary to increase the athlete’s flexibility.
