Gorrie Elementary School, located in Tampa, Fla., is a national Blue Ribbon school that is a part of Hillsborough County Public Schools, which is one of the largest school systems in the United States with a total enrollment of more than 193,500 students in nearly 250 schools. The school has a staff of approximately 60 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals that includes a reading coach, guidance counselor, psychologist, social worker, school nurse, health aide, physical education instructor, media specialist, classroom teachers, custodians, and art and music professionals. Gorrie Elementary School, opened in 1903, supports various after-school programs. It also provides counseling, health care, meal and transportation services to the students. Gorrie Elementary School offers academic classes to over 565 students in kindergarten through grade five.
