I have left GTE credit union and joined Regions bank because I have too much trouble trying to get into the website such as today - 7-31-11. I cannot access the website to check my savings account. I have been trying since 8:00a this morning. Plus, our Ocala branch closed on Saturday and does not open until 9:00a during the week instead of 8:00a. Pitiful customer service.

I'm stuck with GTE FCU because I have a mortgage with them. I recently became unemployed and contacted their "We Can Help" department. I was offered a reduced payment and interest rate with one condition: sign an agreement for a 2-year balloon payment. If I couldn't pay off my original mortgage without a 30-year plan, why would I sign an agreement to pay it off in 2 years. I think they are trying to "do" me or at least steal my house. In the mean time, I will have to tighten my belt as I struggle to find another bank. DON'T USE THEM!!!!

Absolutely love this credit union. They have listened to their members and our getting rid of the .25 debit card fee. They are also so courteous every time I go in. I would recommend this credit union to anyone!!!! As far as the complaints go. We are all member owners we sacrificed for a little less than a year to make sure OUR credit union is still viable and able to meet our financial needs in the future!!!! Also they have great Mortgage Products!!!! Anyone can join!!!

We have been with GTE since 2005 and I am looking for a new bank now. The customer service is deplorable (it took over 4 weeks to get issued a debit card replacement). I was rudely treated at the Sarasota branch. They are now charging $1 for hard copy statements. Every time I turn around they have their hand in my pocket. They have closed down many branches making it VERY hard to bank outside my immediate area. They charge 25 cents per debit transaction now which is ridiculous and i am always double charged when i use someone elses atm by them and atm. $5 - $6 to take out $20 just isnt worth it. I'm not rich, far from it, I can't afford GTE's ridiculous fees. Yet THEY can afford a new branch in sarasota with granite and marble!!! I wouldn;t go to GTE if you paid me. Buyer Beware, Check out the BBB complaints against them. I wish I had done that before chosing them.

After nearly 25 years with them, we are moving our business to another financial institution. We REFUSE to pay 25 cents to use our debit card (with PIN#). We also REFUSE to be charged $1 for a "hard copy" monthly statement. They've been dropping various services over the past few years but they've finally crossed the line with these new charges. Our new bank appreciates our business and our money with free checking, free statements, and free debit card use.

As a Physican office I think its crazy to charge someone 25 cents to use debit...Cost of goods will be going up all over this town since it cost the vender alot more to use the credit end of it...

We also REFUSE to be charged $1 for a "hard copy" monthly statement. They've been dropping various services over the past few years but they've finally crossed the line with these new charges. Our new bank appreciates our business and our money with free checking, free statements, and free debit card use.

I've been a member since 1993 and am highly disappointed with their recent treatment of members. My wife was recently added to my account and they have refused to give us a new card with her name on it. Due to, a two dollar over draft from two months ago! First time ever! They made twenty-nine dollars from that transaction and now make twenty-five cents for every transaction that she must use our pin number. We have no choice but to pay because, as credit, her name is not on the card.

I have been a member since April 1998. I have been very pleased until last week. I received a letter in the mail stating that in November, in order to keep up with the other financial institutions, you should use your readymoni card with a signature. You will be charged 25 cents everytime your card is swiped and you enter your pin. I have been checking around other institutions, they are not charging their account holders for using their debit cards. Although, in some cases this is a wise decision, I want to be the one who makes it...NOT the financial institution. I have no complaints regarding staff, everyone I have ever came in contact with either by phone or in person has been very helpful and courteous. I do not want to leave, but if they keep making decisions for me, I WILL.

A WARNING: My husband & I have been with GTE FCU since 1997. Loved them until recently. With the economy taking a dive we don't have the money to keep up with our payments. So a word to the wise, if you have saving and checking accounts in the same institution where you have loans, it is pretty likely that that institution will take the monthly payments from your checking and savings accounts to pay the delinquent accounts ****without explicit permission from you*****!!! The rep I spoke with said that our credit agreements give them that right.
