Established in 1967, Bay Area Legal Services, is a regional, non-profit, public interest law firm providing legal counsel by assisting individuals and non-profit groups with limited access to legal services, resolving the legal problems for clients and preserving the independence, hope, and dignity of clients. The staff at Bay Area Legal Services provides free counseling and representation to eligible clients for civil legal problems including the following areas: family law, senior advocacy, volunteer lawyers, housing, income maintenance and consumer law. Special programs provided by the firm include caregiver advocacy program, child net and safe net program, judge Don Castor community law center, H.A.V.E. a heart, Ryan White legal outreach program (HIV+), SHOPP program for seniors, working solutions and temporary cash assistance program, fair housing program and low income taxpayer clinic.
