Here is another prime example of why OSHA needed desperately to update the crane/derrick guidelines. This gentleman with Herndon Bros. Trucking ordered a crane way too small for what he was trying to accomplish, and because he got operators to exceed their load charts far more than even the factory will test them at, he tried to get us to do the same thing. My operator never had it completely off the ground and when he reached his capacity, I did tell him to stop, and will do it again 1,000 more times. He did get lost heading out to this remote location, however this customer was certainly not charged for this. Bottom line, customer upset because he knowingly ordered a crane too small for the job and expected us not to charge him our minimum when we rode for an 1.5 hrs each way and tried to make the lift twice un successfully. Please, Mr. Diamond don't refer anybody to use Southway if they operate like you.

We rented a 75 ton crane to help deck a 2400 lima drag line. The operator got lost and was late getting to the job. When they arrived on the operator said the crane was out of its chart after he pick up the machine he then said he was out of his chart and all he had to do was pick the machine straight up and we were going to push the carbody under the house. But Ira the manager of Southway Crane Told the operator to put it back down on the ground which the operator did and left the job. And then charged us Herndon Brothers Inc. $800.00 which I think is wrong for not doing the job.So I will let everyone I know in the crane Bis not to use Southway Crane no Service.
