The City of Syracuse Department of Community Development administers the Community Development Block Grant, which is a federal program that provides support to low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. It addresses the housing, economic and human service needs of residents and neighborhoods and serves as a catalyst for their development. The department works with various agencies and operates several programs that assist in community and economic development. The City of Syracuse Department of Community is also responsible for the preparation of consolidated plan that are developed under the guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
