Having been admitted to the hospital and having gallbladder and pancreatitis I received very good care even though the floor that I was on did seem to have a lot of elderly people who refuse to stay in bed and put a lot of work on the staff trying to make sure they were safe while taking care of all the other patients I give much credit to the nurses and staff of 1-4

In response to the very angry person who rated St.Joseph's a rating of one star. You apparently have all the answers. There is not a hospital in this country that isn't overcrowded and understaffed. I understand a possible mistake was made in your situation and you are upset as you should be but when you are an RN with 9 patients or a physician with 50 you repeat back to me all their code statuses, comorbidities, labs....yeah thats right you can't keep them all straight can you. So when someone carts medical professionals act first because if you weren't a code and we stopped to go check you chart you die, thats how quick it happens.

I believe hospitals are only as good as their staff. Syracuse in general is being hit hard by downsizing, decreased funding in medicare/medicaid reimbursment. Clinical staff worker harder everyday with limited resorces. As a RN and having to say St Joseph Staff saved my parents life in the past but more recently(August) they had failed my family by not assessing my mothers condition adequately causing her to be over medicate and pushed into a nursing home were she was not stable medically to go. Which in turn added further complications. I believe this is the nature of health care every were, not just St Josephs. Instead of getting angry and sueing do something about it.....

The main reason for a 1 star rating is I cant go any lower on this system!!, the hospital refuses to answer any questions, as to why staff was allowed to violate patients rights in the case of my mom! whom is passed away. the NYS dept of health found them in violation of the complaints I had made.against them. But no one wants to fight the catholic organaztion, but guess again! I will not give up until all involved have paid up and admitted to thier wrong doing! BTW my mom had a DNR and the drs went ahead and did cpr 4 times against her wishes. not to mention faseifying paperwork. moms death certifacte states cause of death Acute Renal failure & when they had to report her passing to the onjondaga ME the reporting dr stated a heart attack! take your loved ones to anyother hospital but this one and to add insult to injury not only did they violate the DNR thery billed the insurance for all procedures! well now what Im pushing for criminal against the Drs in question for insurance fruad!
