- DenturesCleaning your retainers: Just like your teeth, plaque builds up on retainers. At first this plaque is soft and easy to remove. Over time it hardens and becomes much harder to remove. This means the easiest way to keep your retainers clean is to clean them every single day while the plaque is still soft. It is as simple as brushing the retainer with a tooth brush and water – DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE – Toothpaste is gritty which is good for your teeth, but will scratch the retainers. To get an extra deep clean of the retainers you can purchase retainer specific cleaner or denture cleaner. You can also dilute hydrogen peroxide and soak the retainers or even wash them with liquid dish soap, but be sure to rinse them well with water before placing them back in your mouth!

- General DentistryDr. James “Jimmy” Gordon grew up in Newport News, Virginia but is a long-time resident of Baltimore county. He attended the University of South Carolina before attending dental school at the Medical College of Virginia. When it became time to choose a residency program his wife, being from Maryland, brought him to Baltimore where they developed roots. He completed a general dentistry residency at Baltimore City Hospitals before further specializing at the University of Maryland, where he received his certificate of orthodontics. When he is not making people smile either by straightening teeth or telling jokes you can find him outdoors. He enjoys spending time with his family, his wife of 46 years, Darcy, their two children and three grandchildren. While it is true that he enjoys almost anything in the sunshine his favorite activities include golf, horseback riding, walking the dogs and taking care of his farm which includes an adorable rescue donkey.
