Founded in 1962, Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad is an independent, nonprofit organization that provides emergency medical services. The organization offers nonemergency ambulance transportation options. It serves the residents of the city of Summit in New Jersey. The organization provides public education programs in first aid. Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad also offers health and safety tips. The organization provides a speakers bureau to address civic groups, community meetings and schools. It offers loans for crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs. The organization s Bike Team provides medical coverage for community events, including home football games and parades. In addition, it hosts training programs from the American Heart Association for fire and police organizations. Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad works in collaboration with the New Jersey State First Aid Council.
