- Dental SealantsDental sealants are a method used to help prevent decay in teeth and are primarily used on children. The most common areas of teeth to develop decay are between the teeth and in the grooves and fissures in the back teeth. These areas are difficult to access and keep clean. Sealants basically are plastic coatings that are flowed into the grooves of the back teeth. Essentially, those areas of the teeth are blocked out, preventing bacteria from building up and causing decay. Sealants can last several years but should be checked for chipping and wear, which may require new applications of more sealant material.
- Fillings
- VeneersQuick, effective solutions for chipped, cracked or worn front teeth. Veneers can also close gaps, disguise discolored teeth or even straighten slightly misaligned teeth – all without braces or the expense that comes with them. Unlike dental crowns that cover entire teeth, veneers are thin, yet durable shells that only fit over the front of your teeth.
- CrownsUsing some of today’s most advanced materials and techniques, including super-strong ceramic, our dentist can restore damaged teeth with dental crowns and fill in missing teeth using dental bridges. With custom shade matching, nobody will be able to tell your crown or bridge apart from your natural teeth.

- Dental BondingThis is a relatively inexpensive solution for discolored teeth, misshapen teeth and teeth that have been weakened by previous damage and fillings.

- Root Canal TreatmentWhile most dentists will send you to an endodontist in another office location when you have an infected tooth that needs root canal therapy, we take a different approach. We provide endodontic treatment right here at Patient-First Dentistry of Summit.
- Periodontal SurgeryThere used to be a time when gum disease automatically meant periodontal surgery. Often the periodontal procedures were some kind of resective procedure, meaning that the gums were cut. This often led to the appearance of the teeth being a little longer. But there used to be a running joke that practitioners used to ask potential patients: “Do you want your teeth longer, or no longer?” These days there are more noninvasive gum disease treatments that include the use of lasers and antibiotic periodontal disease treatment, but unfortunately, if these noninvasive procedures are not successful, then a surgical option may still be required.

- DenturesThe biggest drawback with dentures and the reason why dentures to some people are no good is because over time most people feel that their dentures do not fit well. Once an individual loses his/her teeth, the mouth and face go through drastic changes. If you were to look at an individual who has lost his/her teeth a long time ago and who now wears dentures, once they remove their dentures, their face will appear to sink in. That is because once you lose your teeth, the jawbone itself begins to shrink. And the rate of shrinkage is constant. So a denture that used to fit really well, over time will start to feel loose, because the jaws underneath the denture literally are shrinking away. At this time a new set of dentures will be needed, but there will come a time when there is so much shrinkage that no denture will fit well and be comfortable. At this point, a more expensive option for tooth replacement will be required, but it all could have been avoided by saving the natural teeth in the first place!
