HUMBLE BEGINNINGS FOR THE LARGEST TIKI BAR IN THE FLORIDA KEYS Boondocks opened their doors over 25 years ago as a small ice cream shop. The current kitchen was the entire building. Quickly realizing Ramrod Key was in need of more than just ice cream the original owners expanded the menu to include sandwiches, and later added beer and wine to the mix. It wasn't until 2001 that the real transformation began to take place. Lanny was first to arrive in the Florida Keys and scope out Boondocks. Seeing past the overgrown trees and broken tables he immediately called this father, Larry and long time friend and colleague, John to hop the next flight down and check out their new home.
