The Engineering Department is a part of Martin County, Fla., and provides coastal engineering, field operation and roadway development services. The department issues driveway connection, road opening, and excavation and fill permits. Its development review division ensures regulation and compliance with the county s plans, codes and ordinances, as well as the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Florida Department of Transportation. The Engineering Department also operates a survey division that collects field data related to boundary surveys for acquisitions and topographic surveys for the parks department, property management and utilities. It prepares design drawings with legal descriptions and sketches for the acquisition of easements and right-of-ways. The Engineering Department is located in Stuart, Fla.
